”I feel that the otome games are primarily being played by women. It may have something to do with the subject matter, but it’s also that people see something called an “otome” game and run off assuming that it’s not for them. I think that because it’s played up as “games for women” and “it’s about romance” there are guys who get turned off by that. And I think that’s a bit of a mistake. You can definitely enjoy them. They’re not one-hundred-percent bodice-ripper romance. I think a lot people would enjoy them if they gave them a shot. The more we bring out, the more they’re in the public consciousness, so I hope more and more people will play them.” -Ben Bateman, Editor for Aksys
An interview with Ben Bateman from Aksys Games talking about Sweet Fuse, Hakuoki, and otome games in general.
Hey, remember the Backstage Pass characters page? Notice how there are two slots for CGs for each guy? Now seems like a good time to fill in those slots, but who should we reveal first? Adam, Benito, John, or Matthew?
So, while I was browsing for reviews and discussions about Sweet Fuse, I saw many websites offering torrents/downloads for this game. I know that piracy is rampant on the PSP, but it’s still infuriating to see people claiming how they wished more otome games would be released in English and yet they steal from the very company who has continually listened to the fans. I came across one of these websites encouraging piracy by providing downloads and the following conversation occurred when June, one of Aksys’ employees, discovered the website.
For people who are familiar with many ios otome games, have you ever found french kiss within ios otome app? I wonder if it’s safe for rating 12++, since it seems apple doesn’t have 15++ rating. Only 12++ then 17++ swt

I’m testing the last step of east tower kuon while checking some articles about nenshou for girls. Like what I expected, it seems a lot of Western articles said the maker is wrong and insulting girls is not how to make them to do diet. Believe me, I’ve told him (the maker) before directly about…

"We don’t really have the money or resources to compete with the big boys, which means there are titles we have to pass on and opportunities we’ll always miss, but it also makes us much more agile and able to do interesting things," Bateman said. “I can’t imagine a larger U.S. company giving a second thought to something like 999 or Hakuoki, but both of those have become big successes for us and for our fans.”
An interesting interview with Aksys Games, Xseed, and Atlus.
I know the maker and he said that he make this game for do M. I said I need the one for do S since I like to tease bishonen more than have them insult me. And what? calling me fattie? hahahahah I DEFINITELY WON’T FORGIVE THAT.
But then he said he doesn’t want to make for do S hahahhahahaa. no prob. i’ll make it myself hahaha!
UtaPri fandom. Want a possible localization for the games?
So uh, I do suppose you all would love for the UtaPri games to be localized into English, right?
Well, there’s a poll going on in the Aksys Games forums for possible otome games people would like to see localized. Yes, this probably won’t secure UtaPri for localization (esp. when considering costs and other figures), but Aksys may consider the title if there is enough interest. As of right now, UtaPri is tied with Brother’s Conflict and Amnesia.
Why vote? Well, NIS America stated that they would’ve localized UtaPri already if they could, but they haven’t and appear to have no intentions to. Aksys is our best bet for a localization since they have localized Hakuoki - another otome game - with success. They’re also one of the few game publishers still publishing on the PSP [and I also do suppose you guys would hunt down a PSP just to play UtaPri’s games, right?].
Anyways, in order to vote, you’ll need to make an account on Aksys, however it really doesn’t take long - approx. 5 -10 min. - and you can also discuss otome games and voice your support for UtaPri on the forums!
So if you’re interested, I please ask you to support UtaPri on the poll and show Aksys that you want a localization. It may be a long shot, but it doesn’t hurt to try! ;w;d
The final version of Princess Battles is now available for those who preordered! (Everybody else can buy it next week).
It contains new CGS, Free Play mode that unlocks after you beat the game and a new help system. If you preordered, all you need to do to play the latest version is re-download from the link in the original confirmation email and re-install.
Note: the game still contains a few typos since we’re waiting for the final edit.
There’s currently a poll on Aksys Games Forums, which was posted by a user requesting otome games for future releases. On it are several popular games, such as Amnesia, Diabolik Lovers, Black Wolves Saga, and Glass Heart Princess. The staff of Aksys will see the poll, so…
“I think the most important things anyone can do are pay attention to what people are asking for, and treat the genre and its fans with the same respect anything else gets. I think there’s sometimes a tendency to dismiss otome games as just “Oh ha ha pretty boys”—which, to be fair, is something…
Girls, seriously please stop sharing my game or I need to make it all online. My earning from game is not that good yet, and seriously if I can’t fulfil my parrent’s standard I might not be able to continue. I already tried to focus on iOS since they have better protection, but…
If there is anyone who has illegally downloaded this game, or any official English translated version of an otome game reading this, unfollow me now.
And if you have downloaded/captured these games and then shared them with others to enable them to not purchase them legally, you are equally guilty. You have no right.
I don’t want to hear complaints about how you don’t have any money but you still want to play it. I don’t want to hear complaints about how you think prices are too expensive.
Do you have any idea how much work goes into making these games, or any creation? Every one of these games have started from one simple thing: a dream. And none of you have any right to take away the dreams of others, especially if they have taken that extra step that so many in this world do not - actually make their dream a reality.
This genre isn’t like a movie or TV show that will already make millions if thousands of people pirate it and don’t pay to watch.
This genre depends on every single cent to keep it alive.
So I highly suggest that if you love this genre, and want to see it continue and thrive, you stop robbing the creators of their rightful income. Not one of these people can or will work for free.
Instead of robbing someone else of their dreams, go make your own.
